Ethics Training

The City of New Orleans requires that all public servants complete a (1) hour, mandatory training course on the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics during each year of employment or term of office. Elected officials are additionally required to receive one hour of training per term of office on the Campaign Finance Disclosure Acts.

Training Options

Live and Live Online Sessions

* As of June 2021, the Louisiana Ethics Administration has dictated that live online trainings may now fulfill the annual ethics training requirement.
* Due to City of New Orleans COVID-19 Safety Protocols in place at this time, please contact to discuss live in-person training accommodations. 

Most ethics training sessions are 90 minutes in length. Sessions cover topics customized to fit the situational considerations of the audience. Past sessions have included the following topics:

Online Training – Louisiana Ethics Administration Program

Most City of New Orleans employees and elected officials will fulfill their yearly ethics training requirements through the web portal of the Louisiana Ethics Administration. The training may be accessed by following the weblink below:

https://laethics.net/EthicsTraining/login.aspx

If you are a new user, you must register for access to the portal in order to continue. If you already have a login from previous years, it is still valid to access the system and you may continue through to complete your educational requirement under the tab labeled, “Ethics Training for Public Servants.” A detailed walkthrough is available below, for your convenience.

Upon completion of training through the online portal, please save a copy of your completion certificate to your computer by navigating to the “Certificates” tab on your training home page. Email or deliver your certificate to your division’s Human Resources designee.
